the prevention of change

The prevention of change is the basis for household chores and is supported by a huge industry. Vacuum cleaning is essentially concerned with the prevention of intrusive change as opposed to deteriorative change related to the longevity of objects. (see ONTOLOGY section) Once we assert title to a space, an enclosure or an object we must then try to retain title, but just as importantly, we must prevent it from changing into something unacceptable. This entails continually removing anything covering or filling the space or object which is intrusive. We continually assert it is this and not that. The longer we can hold out the more significant what we hold out for becomes. Ultimately everything finishes in a museum because the aesthetic content, how ever small, will ultimately become apparent and age confers significance.
